My name is Carol Stevens. I am a visual artist, living and working in Western Australia.

In 2020 I co-founded Artforms WA, a successful arts fabrication business based in Perth. I have now commenced on a solo challenge, creating my own designs in metal and in print form.

I work directly with my clients to design and create their own personal, bespoke artworks. I listen carefully to my clients’ ideas and I collaborate with them.  I share my of understanding of design elements such as materials, fabrication techniques and artwork location, enabling the creation of artworks which reflect my clients’ original concepts as accurately as possible.

I also work closely with councils, architects and developers across Western Australia, as well as entities such as the RSL and Perth Zoo. I project manage and fabricate artworks for other artists for permanent public art display and for exhibition in Sculptures by the Sea Cottesloe and Bondi, and Castaways in Rockingham.

Examples of my work in the public domain include sculptures, entry statements, screens, shade shelters, commemorative artworks, play equipment, functional artworks, garden artworks and decorative signage. I work in Corten and stainless steel, aluminium, wood, bronze, granite, glass, vitreous enamel and acrylic.  I prepare my work for laser etching, laser cutting and printing. My 2D works are lino cuts and digital prints on high quality Hahnemühle paper or on fine linen. My hand-drawn, highly detailed designs are often based around native Western Australian flora and fauna.

I have a ‘Buy Local’ policy. I fabricate my own work or support and collaborate with local fabricators. Wherever possible, I source my materials from local suppliers.

Bringing a public artwork to fruition can be a complex, multi-phase operation. As well as working on my own designs, I support other artists with all aspects of the public art process. I have many years of experience in project-managing public art fabrication and installation. I assist artists in the collaboration process with other agencies, in design, material sourcing, fabrication and installation.
